My name is Karen Ball, and I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2015. After undergoing chemo, radiation, and three major surgeries with the best possible medical team and facility, I graduated to survivorship in 2022. Since the inception of the Boot Walk to End Cancer in 2016, I have been actively fundraising to support MD Anderson's mission to end cancer through The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. I feel privileged to give back, as there is an urgent need to accelerate cancer research on all types of cancer so that it will not impact families, friends, and neighbors the way it did me. By the grace of God, I am not only surviving; I am thriving! Every day is a blessing and an opportunity for me to make a difference. I have a wonderful team that works with me as we stand united to support cancer patient programs and our mission to end cancer together. Join my team, Casting out Cancer, at our wonderful community fundraising event on September 12th, 2026, at the beautiful Ashton Villa Mansion, 2328 Broadway Ave, Galveston, TX 77550. Together, we will gather as a community, enjoying great food, fun, and entertainment while working towards our mission to end cancer and support initiatives like kids camp.
